Cycle & Pedestrian Detection
Bicycle and pedestrian counting using non-intrusive technology
Increased traffic in cities as well as mandates to lower pollution levels are driving changes in transportation policies. Active transportation has become the focus amongst traffic planners and politicians alike with both determined to promote cycling and walking as alternate modes of transport.
The TagMaster CityRadar allows for the collection of volumetric and classified data without the need for in-ground sensors, making it quick and easy to install for both temporary and permanent installations.
This radar product has been designed without traditional low speed cut-out filters to be able to very accurately handle both dedicated paths with cycles and at the same time dedicated paths with pedestrians/joggers. The detection of cycles and pedestrians can even be done with a backdrop of normal road traffic.
The CityRadar’s ability to count groups of cyclists and carbon fibre bikes is superior to other known sensor technologies thanks to its advanced radar sensor and sophisticated discrimination algorithms.
Benefits:
- Wide range of survey and communications options
- Temporary or permanent installation options
- Directional counting of bicycles and pedestrians
- Simultaneous detection of several bikes and pedestrians
- Very easy to set up and install
- Mount to existing street furniture with no in-ground sensors required
